I was standing in a marine laboratory practicing my pipette skills. We were testing shellfish samples for Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs). As I concentrated on the procedure I asked my boss what her career goals were. When she asked me mine, I said "I want to look at trees and giggle as often as possible". I finished with a cackle.
This career (and life) goal is fueled in protecting the natural world, exploring it, and empowering others to see the world via human-powered methods - like a bike!
My Dad passed away from Multiple Sclerosis in 2003, and he was a big cyclist. I did not learn to ride until my best friend Sophie taught me in her cul-de-sac
seven years later. Since then, I have carried one question with me - "If others can do it, why can't I?".
I enjoy pushing the limit. 200 miles in a day - why not? Cycling in foreign countires. Sign me up. Crazy temps. I'm there.
